Bradlee Anae, Penei Sewell Receive Morris Trophy

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah Utes defensive end Bradlee Anae has received the Morris Trophy for his performance during the 2019 season.
Also, Desert Hills alum and Oregon offensive lineman Penei Sewell received the award that is given to the top offensive lineman and defensive lineman in the Pac-12, voted on by the players in the conference.
Anae is currently seventh in FBS with 12.5 sacks, and second in the Pac-12 with 13.5 tackles for loss. He has claimed the Pac-12 Defensive Lineman of the Week award twice this season, after games against Arizona and Arizona State. He has 29 career sacks, which is tied with Hunter Dimick for the school record.

The senior from Hawaii is a finalist for the Ted Hendricks award and also a semifinalist for the Bednarik and Lombardi Awards. Anae is the fourth Utah player to win the Morris Trophy, joining Star Lotulelei in 2011, Nate Orchard in 2014 and Isaac Asiata in 2016.
Sewell, as a sophomore, is a finalist for the Outland Trophy. He is the seventh player from Oregon to win the Morris Trophy, former Highland High School star Haloti Ngata won the award in 2005 as a member of the Ducks.
Oregon beat Utah in the Pac-12 Championship game, 37-15 on Friday night at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
