SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Paul Finebaum spoke for the entire country Wednesday morning when he said the reason Utah won’t get into the College Football Playoff is that no one wants to see them there.
“Let’s be honest, the country does not want to see Utah in the College Football Playoff… It’s Utah,” Finebaum said on ESPN’s Get Up.

In last night’s College Football Playoff rankings release Utah came in at No. 5, moving up a spot from last week following their win over Colorado in the final game of the regular season.
Finebaum was asked about a scenario where Utah wins the Pac-12 title, Oklahoma beats Baylor to win the Big12 and LSU beats Georgia for the SEC Title.
“Oklahoma is getting in,” Finebaum said. “They may not be any better but they’re going to look a lot better.”
Someone should have @finebaum ask @UCLAFootball about what happens when you give @Utah_Football bulletin board material. 😬😬😬 https://t.co/cpQiS3PhSw

Finebaum has his own self-titled show and regularly appears on the SEC Network.
Utah’s Response
The twitter account for Utah Football didn’t hesitate to respond, quoting the Tweet thanking Finebaum for “bulletin board material.”

Jason Shelley, Utah’s backup quarterback, quoted the shows original tweet saying, “This country doesn’t want to see you on TV… but we can’t all get what we want.”

As the Utes prepare for the Pac-12 Championship this Friday against Oregon they are on the outside looking in of the College Football Playoff. For the Utes to get that fourth spot LSU must beat Georgia. The spot will be taken by either Utah, Oklahoma or Baylor.
After Alabama’s loss to Auburn, they slid down to No. 12 and are no longer a threat.
The Pac-12 Championship will be in Santa Clara, California Friday at 5:00 p.m. The game will be televised on ABC.
