Allen’s 20 Points Lift Utah To Close Win Over UC Davis

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – It was closer than the Utes wanted but they were able to get a 77-73 win over UC Davis at the Jon M. Huntsman Center.
Timmy Allen led all scorers with 20 points along with 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. He dealt with foul trouble throughout and had to sit for some time in the second half with 4 fouls.
Rylan Jones had another great performance with 18 points and 5 assists, shooting 4-6 from the field and 4-5 from downtown.

The Utes had a hot start to the game, jumping out to an 11-2 lead. They took a 40-27 lead at the halftime break, shooting 7-12 from the three point line. In the second half, UC Davis played a more competitive brand of basketball, outscoring the Utes 46-37. The Aggies were within four points with three minutes left in the game, but Utah knocked down their free throws to secure the win.
Riley Battin helped the Utes to victory with 15 points and 6 rebounds, while going 6-10 from the field and 3-5 from downtown. Both Gach chipped in 11 points and 6 assists. Utah had four players score in double figures. UC Davis had three players reach double figures, led by Joe Mooney with 19 points.
The Utes shot 57 percent from the field, 10-21 from beyond the arc for 47 percent and made 15 of their 19 attempts at the free throw line.
Utah improved their record to 5-2 on the season. They will return to the Jon M. Huntsman Center to face the BYU Cougars on Wednesday. The game will tip-off at 6 p.m. and will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network and on KSL Newsradio.
