Dixie State Women’s Soccer Upsets No. 1 UCCS To Advance To Sweet 16

ST. GEORGE, Utah – No. 5 seed Dixie State pulled off a massive upset in the second round of the 2019 NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer Tournament, knocking off No. 1 ranked UCCS 2-1.
The win vaults them to the Sweet 16, where they will face No. 2 seed Dallas Baptist, who advanced to face the Trailblazers by beating No. 3 seed Colorado School of Mines in penalty kicks.

Dixie State scored first in the 21st minute when Jill Bennett found Whitley Johns for her 12th goal of the season. UCCS answered eight minutes later when Savannah Mills leveled the match at one.
The game-winning goal for the Trailblazers came in the 59th minute when Jaci Cook-Dandos scored a one-timed shot into the back of the net for her fourth goal of the season.
They will face Dallas Baptist on Thursday, December 5 at 4 p.m. MT. The match will take place in Bellingham, Washington.
