SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah Jazz forward Joe Ingles threw a nice alley-oop pass from the top of the three-point line to Donovan Mitchell, who dunked on Pelicans rookie Nicolo Melli.
Mitchell stared Melli down and was assessed a technical foul, but the monster dunk fired up the crowd at Vivint Smart Home Arena.
The play happened early in the second quarter and gave the Jazz a 46-34 lead. Ingles picked up 2nd assist of the game and Mitchell scored his 18th point of the contest.

Mitchell had a great start to the game with 14 quick points in the first quarter and had 20 points before halftime. Bojan Bogdanovic and Mitchell each nailed two three pointers to start the game and put the Jazz on a 14-0 run.
The Jazz played the game without Rudy Gobert, who suffered an ankle sprain in their Friday night win over the Golden State Warriors. Tony Bradley made his first career start.

Former Jazzman Derrick Favors missed the game for the Pelicans with back spasms. It’s his fourth straight game that he has missed and would have been his first game in Salt Lake City since being traded to New Orleans in the off-season.
