AMHERST, Ma. – With the outcome of the game already decided, BYU dug into their depth to give playing time opportunities for players who don’t see the field as often.
In the fourth quarter with BYU up 56-10, the Cougars had a lot of third-team players out on the field. The Minutemen moved the ball at times and got down to the BYU four-yard line to set up a first and goal.
On 3rd & Goal, UMass quarterback Randall West completed a pass Cam Roberson that looked open for a touchdown. But BYU safety Hayden Livingston lunged out and made a great touchdown saving tackle to put the Minutemen down at the BYU one-yard line.
The Minutemen lined up for a 4th & Goal and BYU’s defense stopped UMass running back Cam Robinson for no gain giving the Cougars a goal-line stand.
