Matt Bushman Passes Chad Lewis In Receptions At Tight End
AMHERST, Mass. – Matt Bushman has moved up one spot on Brigham Young University’s list of receptions from a tight end, passing Cougar legend Chad Lewis.
The junior from Tuscon, Arizona recorded his 112th reception Saturday during BYU’s second scoring drive against the UMass Minutemen.
Bushman connected on a 20-yard pass from quarterback Zach Wilson to the UMass 11 yard line.
The catch moved Bushman into sixth place all-time in receptions at tight end. He finished the game against with Minutemen with 2 receptions for 36 yards.

Coming into the Saturday’s game, Bushman had 49 receptions on the season.
He’s had six catches in two different games, against Utah and Washington, and had 5 catches for 101 yards in a come-from-behind win against then-No. 14 Boise State at LaVell Edwards Stadium.
Bushman had over 20 yards per catch three times, against Tennessee, Boise State and Liberty.
The longest catch of his college career came on a 44-yard touchdown pass from receiver Micah Simon in the second quarter against Liberty. It was the second of a two-play scoring drive, following a 16-yard run from Sione Finau.

In each of his three seasons, Bushman has over 500 receiving yards. In 2017, he had 520 yards, the following season he had 511 yards, and with two games left in the season (including the Hawai’i Bowl), he already has 538 yards.
Bushman has nine career touchdowns.
Lewis tweeted his approval after being passed by Bushman.
