Orem Holds Off Late Comeback Attempt By Timpview To Win 5A Title

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Orem Tigers held on defense and prevented a late comeback attempt by the Timpview Thunderbirds to win the 5A state championship.
The Tigers defeated the T-Birds 21-7 to claim the state title at Rice-Eccles Stadium on Friday, November 22.
Timpview scored its first touchdown of the game with 2:02 remaining in the fourth quarter. The T-Birds recovered an onside kick and quickly got back into scoring territory.
Orem’s defense stepped up and picked off a pass in the end zone to halt the comeback and claim the 14-point victory and their third consecutive state championship.

After the Tigers held a 7-0 lead for the first three quarters, running back Noah Sewell busted out of the backfield for a 47-yard score to put Orem up 14-0.

The Tigers would tack on another TD with 3:14 left in the game to make it 21-0.

Sewell led Orem with 11 carries for 103 yards and a touchdown.
He led the Orem defense in tackles with 13. He posted 2 tackles for loss, 2 pass breakups, and a fumble recovery.
After the game, Sewell announced his commitment to play college football at Oregon.
The Thunderbirds were led by Sione Moa and Targhee Lambson who combined for 225 yards and a touchdown.
Timpview finished the year with an 11-4 record.
The Tigers wrapped up the year with a 10-4 record and another state championship.
