Real Monarchs Defeat Louisville City For First USL Championship

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Real Monarchs defeated the two-time defending champion Louisville City to earn their first USL Championship title.
The Monarchs defeated Louisville on their home pitch on Sunday, November 17.
After going down 1-0 early, the Monarchs responded with three straight goals to win the match 3-1.
Louisville City started things off with a goal in the sixth minute of play.
The Monarchs defense went on lockdown for the rest of the game while the offense ramped up.
Erik Holt got things moving with a goal in the 25th minute.
Konrad Plewa tacked on another score right before the break to give the Monarchs a 2-1 lead at the half.
Noah Powder added the final goal in the 66th minute of the match.
The Monarchs would hold onto the two-point lead for the USL title. It’s the first championship for Real Monarchs. They had never won a postseason match until this season.
