SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – On November 6, UCLA wide receiver Ethan Fernea made comments to the media about showing the Utes who is the tougher team.
After Utah’s 49-3 win over the Bruins on Saturday night, the players responded to those comments.
“We figured out who was the more physical team,” Utah defensive end Bradlee Anae said after the game. “The comment was in my ear the whole game.”

“We watched it on video before we came over to the stadium,” Utah running back Zack Moss said. “That was something we wanted to come out and prove and I think we did that.”
Fernea said the following comment on November 6.
“Utah’s known for being tough but I think that we’re ready to go out and show that we’re the tougher team,” said Fernea. “That’s one thing that we pride ourselves on throughout the offseason, every day in practice, being mentally tough so I’m looking forward to it.”
“I know they’re a pretty good team,” said Fernea on what he knows about the Utes. “I think they’re pretty physical but I think that we can match that. We’re a tough team. Yeah, we’re looking forward to the opportunity.”
Fernea started in the blowout loss to Utah but didn’t record any statistics. Utah held the Bruins to just three points and 269 yards of total offense.
Anae had two sacks against the Bruins to bring his career total to 27 and 10 on the season.
