Utah Valley Posts Strong Second Half To Get Past UAB

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Utah Valley Wolverines needed a big second half performance in order to pick up a 66-55 win over UAB for their first road victory of the season.
The Wolverines trailed by five points at halftime, but outscored the Blazers 41-25 in the second half to get their third win of the season.

T.J. Washington led the Wolverines with 19 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals, shooting 6-of-14 from the field and 3-for-8 from the free throw line. Brandon Averette had another strong performance, scoring 18 points and pulling down 4 rebounds on 7-of-17 shooting and 3-for-5 from beyond the arc. Casdon Jardine added 14 points on 4-of-7 from the perimeter. Jamison Overton scored 11 points off the bench to round out the four Wolverines to score in double figures.
Four UAB players led the team with 10 points. UVU shot the ball very well from downtown, hitting 10-of-23 from downtown and shot 44 percent from the field. Despite turning the ball over 20 times, Utah Valley was able to get the win on the road.
Utah Valley improved to 3-1 on the season. They will remain on the road to face No. 1 Kentucky on Monday at 5 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2.
