SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The American Fork Cavemen slung the ball around against East and their air attack proved to be too much for the Leopards.
American Fork quarterback Maddux Madsen threw for 331 yards in the Cavemen’s victory at Rice-Eccles Stadium on Friday, November 15.
The Cavemen defeated the Leopards 37-27 and put themselves into the 6A championship game.
Madsen was 21/31 for 331 yards and 4 touchdowns in the win.
“He’s very mature. He’s very smart and he does what the defense is giving him,” said American Fork head coach Aaron Behm of Madsen’s performance. “He was able to come out today and play great, get the ball where it needed to go to his playmakers and he had a fantastic game.”

The Cavemen QB’s two primary targets Devin Downing and Tanner Holden had excellent performances against East on Friday.
“It’s awesome,” said Downing after the win. “It’s great to come back, have some redemption. We played awesome offense and defense today. I’m so proud of our guys.
Downing, a BYU commit, had 8 receptions for 113 yards and 2 touchdowns.
“We’re gonna have some unfinished business we want to take care of,” continued Downing. “We’re here to prove the doubters wrong and we’ll just keep grinding out.”
