Dominik Eberle Hits Game-Winning Field Goal To Lift USU Past Fresno State

FRESNO, Calif. – Utah State placekicker Dominik Eberle hit a 30-yard field goal as time expired to give the Aggies a 37-35 win over Fresno State.
The Aggies trailed by one point with 3:05 left and they drove down the field and set up Eberle in prime position to win the game.
The victory snapped a two-game losing streak and keeps the Aggies in the hunt in the Mountain Division.

Fresno State scored first when running back Ronnie Rivers scored his first of three touchdowns. Gerold Bright answered for Utah State with a 21-yard run, tying the game at 7 at the end of the first quarter. Rivers scored again in the second quarter before Utah State scored 21 unanswered points in the second period and early in the third quarter, taking a 28-14 lead. The Bulldogs trimmed the deficit midway through the third period before Eberle hit a field goal to stretch the lead back to 10 points.
Rivers scored for the final time at the end of the third quarter to cut the Aggies lead to three. Jalen Cropper’s 10-yard touchdown run gave Fresno State the lead again with 14:11 left in the game. Eberle hit a 39-field goal with 12:31 left to trail by one with 12:31 left and the 30-yard game-winner.
Utah State quarterback Jordan Love went 30-for-39 passing for 388 yards and two touchdowns. Bright ran the ball 14 times for 79 yards and one touchdown, Jaylen Warren returned to the lineup and scored his first touchdown in the last five games to go with his 30 rushing yards.
Wide receiver Siaosi Mariner had a breakout game with 11 catches for 103 yards and two touchdowns.
For Fresno State, Rivers had 102 yards on the ground with 17 carries to go with his three touchdowns. Quarterback Jorge Reyna had 263 yards on 16-of-20 passing.
Utah State improved to 5-4 overall and 4-1 in Mountain West play. They will return to Maverik Stadium on Saturday, November 16 at 2 p.m. on ESPNU.
