PROVO, Utah – BYU head football coach Kalani Sitake got emotional during his weekly coaches show on Monday night.

Sitake’s emotion was for a young BYU fan by the name of Wyatt Page.

Page, a seventh-grader from Eagle Mountain, has terminal brain cancer.

Last month, leading up to the Boise State game, the BYU football team honored Page as part of the “True Blue Hero” program after practice.

The team gave Page gifts that featured t-shirts for every day of the week, hats, clothes, and tickets to the Boise State game. Players and coaches also made a special video cheering on Wyatt.

On Monday, during the program, BYU Football With Kalani Sitake Page was featured in a segment that highlighted Page’s courage and his positive outlook on life.

After the feature aired, Sitake became emotional and said, “We’re just better people because of him and the other True Blue Heroes. It’s why I talked about before why this place is so special … and I’m just honored to be here.”

The True Blue Hero program, which is part of Kalani Sitake’s charity the More 2 Life Foundation, spotlights a new person every week at BYU Football practice. Typically the heroes are children who are overcoming significant challenges in life.

Along with being a diehard BYU fan, Page is also a Utah Jazz fan. Page was recently at the Jazz press conference announcing their extended partnership with the “5 For The Fight” campaign which is a crowdfunding effort for cancer research. Jazz star Donovan Mitchell also gave Page his own game-worn shoes after the Jazz defeated the Los Angeles Clippers back on October 30th.

You can listen to Page’s story below that aired on KSL Newsradio from BYU Football With Kalani Sitake.
