Timpview Upsets Springville In Second Round Of State Playoffs

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – After holding a one-score lead in the first quarter, Timpview trailed by one touchdown heading into the second half. The Thunderbirds scored two unanswered touchdowns in the second half to get the upset win over Springville in the second round of the high school football state playoffs.
Sione Moa scored two of the three touchdowns on the ground, while Targhee Lambson added the third score.
Timpview will play #2 Provo on Friday in the next round.

Here are the rest of the results from all of the second round action in the 5A classification in the high school football playoffs:
#17 Bountiful 7 at #1 Salem Hills 24
Salem Hills had a 21-0 lead at halftime before Bountiful finally found the end zone. Sam Hughes and Jordan Ware each scored a rushing touchdown, while Reed Johnson returned an interception for a touchdown.
Salem Hills will face #9 Wasatch on Friday.
#9 Wasatch 30 at #8 Highland 13
The difference in the game was Wasatch scoring 17 unanswered points in the second quarter. Both teams scored 7 points in the third and 6 points in the fourth. Ammon Tuttle, Quinton Parker and Zak Thacker each found the end zone in the road win.
Wasatch will play #1 Salem Hills on Friday.
#13 Murray 7 at #4 Olympus 49
The Titans scored 49 unanswered points before the Spartans found the end zone. Frankie Goodson threw two touchdowns, both to Scotty Edwards. Christian Peterson had two rushing touchdowns, while Carson Bennion added one score in the big win.
Olympus will face #12 Orem on Friday.
#12 Orem 21 at #5 Brighton 6
Noah Sewell was the difference for the Tigers in their upset win over Brighton. He had a 12-yard touchdown on the ground and recovered a fumble and returned it 50-yards for a touchdown. Cayden Viertel added a rushing touchdown for Orem.
Orem will play #4 Olympus on Friday.

#15 Alta 9 at #2 Provo 44
Luke Haslem had two passing touchdowns, both to Ryan Harward. Dallin Havea added two rushing touchdowns in the dominating win for Provo.
Provo will face #10 Timpview on Friday.
#14 Bonneville 0 at #3 Farmington 30
Wyatt Evertsen had one passing and one rushing touchdown. Hayden Toone added two rushing touchdowns in the shutout win for the Phoenix.
Farmington will face #11 Lehi on Friday.

#11 Lehi 21 at #6 Woods Cross 14
The Pioneers jumped out to a 14-0 lead before Woods Cross scored before the halftime break. The Wildcats tied the game entering the fourth quarter, but Lehi scored early in the fourth to hold on to the upset win. Charles Jacob threw a touchdown and caught another one for Lehi.
Lehi will play #3 Farmington on Friday.
