Gary Snyder, Father Of Jazz Head Coach Quin Snyder Passes Away

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Gary Snyder, the father of Utah Jazz head coach Quin Snyder passed away from cancer at the age of 80.
Snyder passed away on October 24 and it was first reported by the Mercer Island Reporter.
The father of the Jazz head coach was a “sports icon” in Mercer Island. He was a hall of fame baseball coach as well as the athletic director at Mercer Island High School.
Friend/former teammate of Quin and ESPN college basketball analyst Jay Bilas tweeted his condolences saying “RIP to Gary Snyder, educator, Hall of Fame coach, and father of my lifelong friend and teammate Quin Snyder. Here is to a life well-lived, and one that touched so many other lives.”

“Little things like that made him unique,” Quin’s brother Matt told the Mercer Island Reporter. “He valued details.”
Gary’s wife Tonnette passed away on July 1, 2019. They were married for 57 years.
Quin was born and raised in Mercer Island. He graduated from Mercer Island High School in 1985. He led his team to the 1985 state championship and was a two-time basketball player of the year in the state of Washington.
