This is the first time BYU and Liberty will have squared off against one another on the football field. Liberty recently moved up from the ranks of the FCS to the FBS level. The Flames are currently in their second season at the highest level of college football.
With the Liberty game landing on an ESPN network, the 2019 season has featured eight BYU games on ESPN’s networks.
This year’s game against the Flames is the first of a two-game series against the fellow Independent program.
