Sewell, Orem Takes Down Viewmont In First Round

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The defending 4A champion Orem Tigers won their first playoff game as a member of 5A with a 66-6 victory over Viewmont.
Tigers star Noah Sewell led the way with three rushing touchdowns. Micah Fe’a threw three touchdown passes, two to Brinton Paulson.
Orem will play #5 Brighton next Friday.
Here is all of the results from the 5A classification in first round action of the High School Football Playoffs:
#1 Salem Hills, #2 Provo, #3 Farmington, #4 Olympus, #5 Brighton, #6 Woods Cross and #7 Springville all had a first round bye.
#25 Mountain Ridge 21 at #8 Highland 58
The Rams held a 31-7 lead at the half to create separation in their first round win over Mountain Ridge. Colton White and Hunter Lambert each ran in two touchdowns. Aisea Mahina, Ben Boren, Nephi Hosea and Paul Clark each ran into the end zone once.
Highland will play #9 Wasatch next Friday.
#24 Hillcrest 6 at #9 Wasatch 42
Wasatch jumped out to a 28-0 lead before Hillcrest scored their only touchdown. Parker Quinton had two passing and two rushing touchdowns, while Zak Thacker ran in two scores for Wasatch as they advance to the second round of the playoffs. Both of Quinton’s touchdown passes were caught by Damien Skiby.
Wasatch will face #8 Highland next Friday.
#23 Timpanogos 15 at #10 Timpview 56
The Thunderbirds outscored Timpanogos 43-9 in the first half to seal the deal. Elijah Allen threw two touchdown passes for Timpview. Targhee Lambson ran in three scores, while Ammon Key, Misi Tuha and Taylor Malo each ran in a touchdown.
Timpview will play #7 Springville next Friday.

#22 Payson 0 at #11 Lehi 42
Creyton Cooper accounted for four touchdowns, three passing and one rushing. Jaden Greenwood caught two touchdowns and Josiah Westover had one score through the air. Carsen Manookin and Chandler Jenkins each added a rushing touchdown in Lehi’s shutout win in the first round of the playoffs.
Lehi will face #6 Woods Cross next Friday.

#20 Skyline 28 at #13 Murray 36
The Spartans needed 19 points in the fourth quarter, while holding Skyline to six points to get the victory in the first round. Jarrett Henriksen threw two touchdowns, while Nicholas Cooper and Owen Madsen each ran in a touchdown for Murray.
Murray will face #4 Olympus next Friday.

#19 Spanish Fork 9 at #14 Bonneville 14
Bonneville scored all 14 points in the first quarter and held Spanish Fork to nine points throughout the game to get the win. Kord Shaw ran in a 40-yard touchdown, while Bosten Baur recovered a fumble and returned it 72-yards for a touchdown.
Bonneville will play #3 Farmington next Friday.
#18 Box Elder 21 at #15 Alta 27
The Hawks outscored Box Elder 14-7 in the second quarter and was able to hold on for the victory over Box Elder. Cinco Lucero threw three touchdown passes, two to Daniel Thomason and one to Jaden Kinnersley.
Alta will face #2 Provo next Friday.
#17 Bountiful 28 at #16 Maple Mountain 18
Bountiful had a 14-7 lead at halftime before Maple Mountain cut the lead to four in the third quarter. The Braves picked up the win after outscoring Maple Mountain 14-8 in the fourth quarter to get the slight upset and advance to the second round of the playoffs. Jared McCann had three rushing touchdowns for Bountiful as well as an 80-yard kick return for a touchdown.
Bountiful will play #1 Salem Hills next Friday.
