Colleges Prepare To Face Off In First-Ever ‘Best of Utah’ Gymnastics Meet

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – For only the second time ever the Utah, BYU, Utah State and Southern Utah University gymnastics teams will meet in Salt Lake City.
The event will be at the Maverick Center in West Valley City on January 11 at 7:00 p.m.
The Best Of Utah gymnastics event is a five-year series.

“The Maverik Center of West Valley City is honored to host the Rio Tinto Best of Utah NCAA Gymnastics Meet,” said Maverik Center CEO Kevin Bruder. “Our community looks forward to continuing to host high caliber gymnastics events that elevate the level of competition.”
All four schools are Division 1 in gymnastics. The University of Utah Red Rocks have been a force in college gymnastics since the ’80s.

“It is incredible that our state has four outstanding Division I programs,” said Utah head coach Tom Farden. “It speaks volumes to the popularity of gymnastics in Utah and this meet will allow each school’s passionate fans to get a chance to see their team in a championship setting. The podium at the Maverik Center is simply one of the best and we are looking forward to this event this upcoming season.”
Twenty-six Utah natives will be competing in the event between the four schools.
