USU Basketball Ranked Top 20 Nationally Before Season Begins

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah State Men’s Basketball is ranked 17th in the nation by the Associated Press.
Utah State hosts the College of Idaho in an exhibition game on Wednesday, October 30, before hosting Montana State on Tuesday, November 5, for the home opener at 8:00 p.m.
The Aggies have high expectations heading in the season. They were unanimously picked to win the Mountain West Conference for the first time in school history.

This marks the third time the Aggies have been ranked before the season began, the highest-ranking coming at #12 in 1970-71.
Mountain West Preseason Player of the Year Sam Merrill returns to the lineup alongside Neemias Queta who was selected pre-season All-Mountain West.

Queta is on the this season’s watch list for the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award.
