SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert received one of the highest basketball honors in his native country when he was named the French Basketball Player of the Year.
He received the “Alain Gilles Trophy,” which is given to a French player regardless of male or female and the country or basketball club they play for.
The award is given out by the French Basketball Federation (FFBB).
Gobert was awarded his second consecutive NBA Defensive Player of the Year award and also helped the French National Team capture the bronze in the FIBA World Cup in China.

The Utah Jazz will return to Vivint Smart Home Arena for their second-to-last preseason game on Monday night when they host the Sacramento Kings at 7 p.m. The game will not be televised.
