NEW ORLEANS, La. – New Orleans center Derrick Favors played against his former squad for the first time when Pelicans hosted the Jazz for a preseason matchup.

Favors and the Pelicans played against Utah in their third preseason game on Friday, October 11.

The former Utah big man played against Jazz for the first time after spending nine seasons with the Salt Lake City-based franchise.

It was a relatively quiet night for Favors who only played 11 minutes in the Pelicans 128-127 win over the Jazz.

The Pelicans moved to 3-0 in the preseason with the victory.

Favors started the game at center, opposite of Utah’s Rudy Gobert. He did not start the second half.

The new Pelican posted two points, two rebounds, and one assist in his limited minutes.

Favors also wore a pair of the Iron Spider colorway of Donovan Mitchell’s signature shoes for the game.

The former Jazzman spent time both pregame and postgame talking and hugging his former teammates and coaches. Favors was interviewed postgame and thanked Jazz fans for their support of him.

Favors was traded to New Orleans in July.
