Stars Acquire Rights To Former BYU Player Kyle Collinsworth

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Salt Lake City Stars have announced a move that could bring former BYU guard Kyle Collinsworth and another player to Utah and the Jazz organization.
The NBA G League team made the announcement Friday after a deal that sends the returning player rights for Collinsworth and Rodney Pryer from the Raptors 905 in exchange for the rights to Jairus Lyles and Justin Reyes.
Collinsworth started in 28 games for the Raptors 905 last season, averaging 10.5 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.8 steals. He played with the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks during the 2017-2018 season, appearing in 32 games. He started two of those games.
Before his NBA stint, Collinsworth played for two seasons with the Texas Legends.

At Brigham Young University, the Provo, Utah native became the NCAA’s all-time leader in season and career triple-doubles with 6 his junior year and 12 overall, achieving double-digit statistics in points, rebounds and assists.
Collinsworth was the West Coast Conference Player of the Year in 2016.
Pryor played two seasons at Robert Morris University before transferring to Georgetown. After college, he played one season with the Sioux Falls Skyforce. He played for both the Windy City Bulls and Raptors 905 during the 2018-19 G-League season, averaging 8.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists.
The Stars gave up Lyles and Reyes in the trade. Lyles played in 46 games for Salt Lake, averaging 12.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.4 steals. He played his freshman year at Virginia Commonwealth University and then transferred to the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC).

Lyles signed over the summer with MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg in Germany.
Reyes played in 33 games for the Stars, averaging 7.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.0 assist. He played for St. Thomas Aquinas College.
The Stars begin the 2019-20 season on November 10 against Sioux Falls Skyforce. Their first home game is November 15 against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers at Bruins Arena on the campus of Salt Lake Community College.
