Real Monarchs Postpone Match Due To Death Of Opposing Team’s Player

HERRIMAN, Utah – The Real Monarchs postponed an upcoming match due to the death of Promise Issac, a player for Austin Bold FC.
Issac passed away on Wednesday, October 2 at the age of 31.
The match was originally scheduled for Saturday, October 5 but has been moved to Wednesday, October 16 at 7 p.m. (MDT).
Due to the tragic events surrounding Austin Bold FC, our match on Sat., October 5 at Zions Bank Stadium has been postponed to Wed., October 16 at 7:00p MT.

The Monarchs extended condolences to the club on Thursday, October 3.
“Extending our deepest sympathies to everyone surrounding your club,” said the Monarchs in a tweet to Austin Bold FC.
Issac signed with Austin Bold FC in August of 2018. He had played 12 seasons in Turkey and Saudi Arabi before signing with the United Soccer League club.
“The greatest loss a team can suffer is not on the scoreboard, it’s the death of a fellow teammate,” said Bobby Epstein of Austin Bold FC. “It’s with shock and grief that we acknowledge the sudden death of Promise Issac. On behalf of the BOLD organization; we wish his wife, children and family strength and peace as they struggle to cope with his death.”

The Monarchs are currently 4th in the USL Western Conference standings. They have a 13-10-7 record this season.
The team remains in playoff contention with four games left on their regular-season schedule. The eight top teams in the conference qualify for the postseason.
The club’s next match is on Wednesday, October 9 at 7 p.m. when they host Orange County SC.
