RSL Has Unfinished Business Heading Into Final Regular Season Match
Oct 2, 2019, 10:50 AM
SANDY, Utah – Real Salt Lake have one regular-season game left on the 2019 schedule. After clinching a playoff spot last weekend against the Houston Dynamo, RSL has unfinished business.
With a win against Vancouver this Sunday, and other results going their way, RSL would finish in the top four of the Western Conference and solidify a home elimination playoff game in the first round of the playoffs.

The game to keep an eye on is the LA Galaxy and Houston Dynamo matchup, which will take place at BVAA Stadium and will kick off at the same time as RSL’s matchup against Vancouver – 2 p.m.
The Galaxy have clinched a playoff spot as well and currently sit one point ahead of RSL in fourth place. If Houston are able to pick up a result, either a draw or win, and RSL takes care of their business against Vancouver – RSL would climb into the top four.
The other match to keep an eye out on is the blockbuster between Minnesota United and the Seattle Sounders, both teams sit on 53 points in second and third place respectively. Assuming someone comes out of the game with three points and the game doesn’t end in a draw – RSL has a chance to knock one of them down the Western Conference as well.

The Bottom Line
RSL needs to pick up three points against the Whitecaps. If RSL is unable to win, their chances of cracking a home playoff game dwindles. However, with a win against Vancouver, their chances increase drastically.
The Galaxy should beat Houston, although, as we found out last year, anything is possible. If the Dynamo play a similar brand of soccer in which they played against RSL last weekend, the Dynamo are a threat to dismantle the Galaxy.

LA are coming off a very disappointing 4-3 defeat to the Vancouver Whitecaps and will be looking to assert authority over a poor Dynamo outfit.
The final day of MLS is chaotic. RSL will need to be at their best if they are going to pick up all three points on the road. RSL’s road record to date is not promising. They have only won three games away from home this season.
