Utah State Experiences Lightning Delay Prior To Game Against Colorado State

LOGAN, Utah – The Utah State Aggies experienced a lightning delay at Maverik Stadium in Logan prior to their game against the Colorado State Rams.
The USU football game was scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. (MDT) on Saturday, September 28.
Fans were asked to seek shelter until the lightning moved away from the stadium. The gates to the stadium were reopened at 5 p.m.

The NCAA Sports Medicine Handbook stats that “to resume athletics activities, lightning safety experts recommend waiting 30 minutes after both the last sound of thunder and last flash of lightning” and if the lightning is more than six miles away.

The earliest the game would be allowed to begin after the delay is 6 p.m. (MDT).

The Aggies host the Rams for their annual homecoming. Utah State is currently favored by more than three touchdowns in the game.
USU has a record of 2-1 on the season. Colorado State comes to Logan with a 1-3 record.
The game will be available on CBS Sports Network and 1280 AM.
