LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell and former Jazzman Darrell Griffith surprised fans when they returned to Louisville to judge a dunk contest.

Louisville is the Alma Mater of both Mitchell and Griffith.

Mitchell had an impressive entrance at Louisville Live, a preseason basketball event for Louisville basketball on Friday, September 27.

The Jazzman was introduced to a crowd of Louisville basketball fans with the Spider-Man Theme song. People in the crowd were wearing #45 Utah Jazz jerseys.

Mitchell was a judge for the Cardinals’ preseason dunk competition on Friday evening.

Former Jazzman and fellow Louisville alum, Darrell Griffith was also a judge for the event.

Griffith attended Louisville from 1976-80. Mitchell played for the Cardinals from 2015-17.

Mitchell and Griffin both have experience of dunk contests and what makes a good slam dunk.

Griffin participated in the 1984 and 1985 dunk contests as a member of the Jazz.

Mitchell won the 2018 NBA All-Star Dunk Contest in his rookie NBA season.

Utah Jazz Media Day is on Monday, September 30. You can follow all of the coverage from Media Day on Twitter at @kslsports.

The Jazz begin preseason play on Saturday, October 5 when they host the Adelaide 36ers at 7 p.m. (MDT).
