Jamaal Williams Carted Off Field After Helmet-To-Helmet Hit

Story update: Early Friday morning Jamal Williams posted on his Instagram story expressing appreciation for everyone who was checking on him. He assured fans that he is “Gucci” and that “It’s all gonna be good.”

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Green Bay Packers running back Jamaal Williams was carted off the field after a helmet-to-helmet hit.
Williams received the ball on the Packers’ first offensive play on Thursday, September 26 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The former BYU RB got the first carry of the game and rushed forward for no gain. Eagles defender Nigel Bradham was tackling Williams when Philadelphia defensive end Derek Barnett came to help and made helmet-to-helmet contact with Williams.

It was unclear if Williams was knocked unconscious with the hit but he laid on the ground for a few minutes after the play.
They're bringing out the stretcher for Jamaal Williams, who is still down.

Medical personnel were called onto the field to assist Williams. After stabilizing the running back, they carted him off of the field.
While being carted off, Williams gave a “thumbs up” to the crowd.
Barnett was penalized 15 yards for unnecessary roughness.

According to the Packers, Williams is being evaluated for neck and head injuries. The team reported that he had feeling and movement in all of his extremities.

ESPN’s Michele Steele reported that Williams was transported to a local hospital.

While at BYU, Williams was carted off the field after suffering a head injury against the University of Utah in 2013. After being carted off, the former Cougar went to the hospital with a concussion and severe stinger.

Williams is in his third NFL season, all with the Packers. After his college career at BYU, he was selected by the Packers in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
