Stengel Strikes Against Seattle, Reign Overtake Royals In Final Minutes

SEATTLE, Wash. – Utah Royals FC forward Katie Stengel delivered a strike in the 67th minute to tie the game against the Seattle Reign.
Stengel’s equalizer put the Royals square with the Reign until the 86th minute.
The Reign’s Jodie Taylor scored with minutes left to put the Royals away for good.

The Royals outshot the Reign 14-10. Utah possessed the ball for the majority of the match but couldn’t capitalize. The Reign only had the ball for 41% of the game.
With the win, the Reign surpassed the Royals in the NWSL standings. The Royals now sit in the fifth place while the Reign are in fourth. The top four teams qualify for the postseason.
Utah has two matches remaining in 2019. The Royals’ next match is at home on Saturday, September 28 at 6 p.m. against the Chicago Red Stars. The Red Stars are currently in second place. The match is available on the KSL TV app.
