LOS ANGELES, Calif. – University of Utah safety Terrell Burgess had his first career interception when he picked off USC quarterback Matt Fink in the third quarter.
Three plays later, Utah quarterback Tyler Huntley threw his fifth touchdown pass of the season, finding tight end Cole Fotheringham for a two-yard touchdown, his first of the season and third of his career.
Utah was trailing 21-10 midway through the third quarter and was looking like the Trojans had the momentum when Burgess had the interception.

The senior from San Marcos, California, Burgess is getting his first opportunity this season as a regular starter after being a reliable backup through the first three years of his college career.
Fotheringham entered his sophomore season by being the lead tight end but most of the targets to his counterpart Brant Kuithe. Entering the game against USC, Fotheringham had just one catch for eight yards.
Last season, he hauled in 17 receptions for 190 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Tyler Huntley has been carrying the load after the Utes lost star running back Zack Moss to a shoulder injury. At the time of the touchdown, he had 142 passing and 65 rushing yards through three quarters.
