Skyridge Tops American Fork To Remain Undefeated

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – It was a game of firsts at American Fork High School Friday night. The first game on American Fork’s new turf field, the first game between the American Fork Cavemen (3-3, 0-1) and Skyridge Falcons (6-0, 1-0), and the first region four matchup of the year.

American Fork would score first on a 3-yard touchdown pass from Maddox Madsen to Devin Downing, but the Falcons kept pace. On the next drive for Skyridge, Emmett Call found Elijah Crockett for a touchdown to even the score.

In the second quarter, Skyridge pulled away scoring 17 unanswered points to take a 24-14 lead at halftime.

American Fork received the ball to start the second half and marched down field, but the drive came to an end after a Madsen pass was intercepted by Tanner Shelton. Skyridge took advantage of the momentum swing with Call calling his own number for a 23-yard touchdown run.

American Fork scored 20 fourth quarter points, but ultimately couldn’t overcome the deficit falling 45-34.

Call threw for two touchdowns and ran for another pair in the victory while American Fork’s Madsen threw three touchdowns in the loss.

Skyridge hosts Pleasant Grove (5-1, 0-1) next week while American Fork hits the road to face Westlake (1-5, 0-1).

Region 1

Davis 34 at Roy 20

The Davis Darts came home with 14 point road victory on Friday night. Davis quarterback Chance Trujillo threw two touchdowns passes to Peter Stevenson in the win. Roy QB Jaxson Dart had two TD throws in the loss.

Fremont 38 at Syracuse 26

Fremont held off a 19-point 4th quarter from Syracuse to get the 38-26 win on Friday. Fremont jumped out to an early 17-0 lead and was able to hang on for the win. The Silverwolves had three players with touchdown receptions in the win. Jaxon Whitney, Jayce Storey, and Moises Martinez each scored one TD. Syracuse’s Bridger Hamblin had three touchdowns in the loss.

Layton 14 at Weber 48

Weber’s defense showed up Friday night in their game against Logan. After scoring the first touchdown of the game, Logan was held scoreless by Weber until the final two minutes of the game. Weber’s Jake Lindsay threw for two touchdowns in the win. Weber running back Logan Payne had three TDs in the blowout.

Northridge 23 at Clearfield 28

Clearfield held off Northridge for a five-point victory on Friday night. The Knights’ Colby Browning threw for one touchdown while he rushed for another in the win. Clearfield’s Bransen Simper threw for three TDs in the defeat.

Region 2

Granger 13 at Taylorsville 17

Taylorsville scored a touchdown with 13 seconds left to take the victory over Granger on Friday night. Taylorsville had two rushing touchdowns, one from Braxton Bates and the other from Junior Heimuli. Granger quarter Dion Fue had one touchdown in the loss.

Kearns 42 at West Jordan 21

After a scoreless first quarter, both Kearns and Jordan each scored touchdowns in each of the final three quarters. Big second and third quarters by Kearns by them pull off a three-score win over West Jordan on Friday. Kearns QB Dakota Lynde had three touchdowns in the win.

West 38 at Hunter 39

Friday’s matchup of West and Hunter featured an exciting finish and a ton of points late in the game. The Hunter Wolverines pulled out a one-point win over the West Panthers as time expired. With 11 seconds left in the 4th quarter, the Wolverines took a 39-32 lead on a one-yard Jordan Tupea run. The Panthers responded on the next play with a 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. West went to the win by attempting a two-point conversion only to come up short. The two teams combined for 39 points in the final quarter. Tupea was responsible for two touchdowns in the win. West’s Abraham Williams had three TD runs in the defeat.

Region 3

Riverton 30 at Jordan 29

A ten-point fourth quarter helped Riverton pull off the 30-29 road victory against Jordan on Friday evening. Riverton QB Jaxon Howard threw for two scores in the victory. Jordan’s Kadius Fuimanon ran for two touchdowns in the loss.

Region 4

Corner Canyon 47 at Pleasant Grove 14

The Corner Canyon Chargers soundly defeated Pleasant Grove on Friday night 47-14. Chargers quarterback Cole Hagen threw for five touchdowns in the blowout. Pleasant Grove QB Caleb Campbell threw for one touchdown in the loss.

Westlake 0 at Lone Peak 38

The Lone Peak Knights shutout the Westlake Thunder 38-0 on Friday evening. The Knights scored in every quarter of the game. Lone Peak QB Luke Romney threw for two touchdowns in the win. Knights running back Chase Comer added a rushing score in the blowout.

Non-Region

Timpview 49 at Cyprus 10

After Cyprus took a 10-0 lead in the first quarter, Timpview scored 49 unanswered in the third and fourth quarter to take the 49-10 win. Timpview QB Elijah Allen threw for four touchdowns in the win. Running back, Sione Moa added two scores on the ground.
