RSL Jumps Ahead Of San Jose In Western Standings On Kreilach’s Header

SANDY, Utah – Damir Kreilach’s header on Wednesday night gave Real Salt Lake the win and three points, helping the team jump the San Jose Earthquakes in the Western Conference standings.
Kreilach’s goal gave RSL a 1-0 on Wednesday night during the 75th minute of play and the team held on for three points with the victory of the Quakes.
Real Salt Lake opened the night one point behind San Jose in the standings but moved ahead of the Earthquakes at the end of the match, 46 points to 44 points.

Brooks Lennon’s cross to Kreilach put RSL up 1-0 against the Quakes in the second half of play and the team didn’t look back.
Kreilach’s goal was his fifth of the season.

San Jose controlled the time of possession throughout the match. The Quakes had the ball more than half of the match. Real Salt Lake was efficient with their limited time and outshot San Jose 12-9 on the night.

San Jose had 3 yellow cards compared to 2 for RSL. Neither team was handed a red card.
RSL is now tied for second place in the Western Conference with the Seattle Sounders.
Real Salt Lake has taken advantage of their home pitch this season. The team is now 11-3-1 at Rio Tinto Stadium in 2019 compared to a record of 3-8-3 on the road.
