LOGAN, Utah – Gary Andersen, head coach of football at Utah State University seems to be just as high on Jordan Love as the rest of the local and Mountain West media. In an interview with SportsBeat, Andersen said he hopes to give the junior quarterback a tough decision come January.
“When you have Jordan Love you want to do what you can to help him continue to grow,” said Andersen.
The key for Aggie coaches this season is getting the ball in the hands of big playmakers and guys who are explosive, not only to win games but to “make big plays for Jordan (Love).”
Love is garnering plenty of preseason hype as a Heisman hopeful. He was named to the Manning Award Watch List and the Davey O’ Brien Award Watch List – among others.

Last season Love posted 3,567 yards and 32 touchdowns with a 64. percent completion percentage.
The one hiccup Love, Andersen and the Aggies could face comes in the offensive line where Utah State is starting four new guys, according to Andersen.
Loving Jordan Love
“I love him, how bout that,” was Andersen’s answer when asked about the progress Love has made through fall camp.
Andersen gushed about Love, not only his ability to play football but the leadership and focus he brings to the Aggies.
The team has about 50 new players this season, according to Andersen, and his quarterback attempts to have an impact on every single one of them.

“Jordan is a huge mentor to every one of those kids…he goes out of his way to make sure he touches them in a positive way,” Andersen said.
This past summer Love was able to learn from two big-name mentors in Eli and Peyton Manning when he was invited to and participated in the “Manning Passing Academy.”
As for his playing ability and discipline. According to Andersen Love, grinds every day.
“He doesn’t by any stretch of the imagination think he has arrived,” Andersen concluded.
Utah State opens up their season in North Carolina against Wake Forest Friday at 6:00 p.m. (MDT).
