TACOMA, Wash. – After going six straight matches without a win, Utah Royals FC has now won two straight games with a 3-1 win over Reign FC on the road.
It’s the third time in club history that they have scored 3 goals and the second time in less than a week after a 3-0 win over Sky Blue FC on Wednesday.
It was a great start for Utah when Katie Stengal scored in the third minute of the match for her first goal of the season.
That goal was set up by Rodriguez who controlled possession on the right hand side and was slaloming through two Reign defenders and fired the shot from 5 yards out. The ball hit the keeper and bounced off the crossbar before Stengal tapped the ball in for her first goal of the season.

The second goal was scored in the 59th minute when Lo’eau LaBonta went down the middle of the field into the box and toe-touched it past the goalkeeper.
It’s the second goal of the season for the California native, who is in her fourth season as a professional and her first season with Utah Royals FC.

Just eight minutes later, Amy Rodriguez scored her team-best seventh goal when Stengal fired a shot with her right foot from 20 yards away, the goalkeeper couldn’t catch the ball and Rodriguez ran in and tapped the ball into the goal to give the Royals a 3-1 lead.

The win gave the Royals 24 points and their seventh win and have jumped up to the fifth spot in the NWSL standings, just two points behind Reign FC for fourth place and two points ahead of the Houston Dash.
Utah will make their second stop on their three game road trip against the Orlando Pride on Saturday, August 17 at 5:30 p.m. The match will be streamed at KSLSports.com or the KSL TV app.
