KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The rivalry was renewed at Children’s Mercy Park and Corey Baird scored two goals to lead Real Salt Lake past Sporting Kansas City to a 2-1 victory.

Baird picked up a brace after scoring a goal in each half to help RSL get the road win.

The first goal came in the 38th minute when Albert Rusnak attempted a free kick about 20 yards from the goal. The ball hit the crossbar and bounced to Baird, who put the ball away past the Sporting Kansas City goalkeeper.

His “brace” goal came in the 70th minute when forward Jefferson Savarino lobbed the ball ahead to Baird, who chested down the ball on the left side of the goal and blasted it with his left foot, going far post past the keeper.

Baird collected his second and third goal of the season.
