‘Eye Roll Material:’ BYU Women’s Soccer Left Off Preseason Top 25

PROVO, Utah – Despite boasting a roster that features two of the nation’s best players in forward Elise Flake and midfielder Mikayla Colohan, the 2019 BYU Women’s Soccer team did not appear in the preseason Top 25 poll that was released on Tuesday.
The Cougars received votes putting them at 30th in the preseason rankings that were released by the United Soccer Coaches.
One media member who covers collegiate soccer nationally said leaving BYU’s 2019 squad out of the preseason poll was “eye roll material.”
Plenty of eye roll material in the preseason poll, but BYU and Rutgers somehow not being ranked is pretty ludicrous.

The Cougars were the second-highest ranked team outside of the Power Five conferences in the poll. BYU’s West Coast Conference opponent Santa Clara appeared at No. 13 on the Top 25 ballot.
Other notables in the poll include Texas A&M who appears at No. 12 in the preseason rankings. The Aggies from the Southeastern Conference will face BYU at South Field in Provo on Thursday, September 12th. Six days prior to that, the Cougars will host rival Utah in Provo and the Utes were also receiving votes. The Utes are No. 36 in the poll.
