SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Big3 basketball league is coming to Salt Lake City and Vivint Smart Home Arena on Saturday, July 27.

The three-one-three, three-game event will begin at 7 p.m. and will feature many familiar faces to Utah Jazz fans.

The league is in it’s third season and was founded by Rapper and Hip-Hop icon Ice Cube.

Former NBA and international basketball players are putting on a show during the summer months.

The Rules

The games are played on a half-court with the regular basketball rules of a two-point shot and a thee-point shot. The three-point line is the same distance as the NBA.

Something unique about the Big3 is that they have three circles that are 30 feet away from the basket that if the shot is made with any part of the foot touching the circle, would count as four points.

The shot clock is 14 seconds, so the pace is much quicker. If a player is fouled and makes the shot, they are awarded a free throw. But if a player is fouled on a two-point shot and misses, they get one free throw for two points.

If they are fouled on a three point attempt, they shoot one shot from the top of the three-point line for three points. If a player is fouled on a four point shot, they are given one shot from the four point circle for four points.

They play to 50 and have to win by two points. The games will play until a team reaches 25 points and the game is sent to halftime. The second half and game ends when a team reaches 50 points.

Teams that pick up five fouls in a half will give their opponents two shots worth one point each and possession of the ball.

The league has 12 teams with six teams playing in Salt Lake City. The other six are on a bye week.
