LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Pac-12 will hold their conference championship game at the new home of the Raiders in Las Vegas for the 2020 and 2021 seasons.
The announcement was made during the conference’s football media day event in Los Angeles.
“Highlighting and showcasing our programs on one of the biggest stages in a major destination market is a tremendous opportunity for our student-athletes, universities and fans, and consistent with our mission to create the best possible experiences for student-athletes,” said Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott. “We are excited to work with our new partners in the Raiders, Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and MGM Resorts International for these events.”

The championship game was held the last five years at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California – the home of the San Francisco 49ers. The 2019 contest will also be held there and be broadcast on ESPN/ABC.
From 2011 to 2013, the championship game was held at the home stadium of the higher-seeded team.
A second post-season Pac-12 game will also be held at the new stadium, which will host the 2020 Las Vegas Bowl. Game organizers will pair a Pac-12 team against either a Big Ten or SEC opponent.
Bowl organizers previously announced that they’re moving the game from the first Saturday of the bowl season to after Christmas.
According to a release issued by the conference about the new stadium, “the 1.75-million-square-foot stadium will also provide the most start-of-the-art facilities for the champions of the Pac-12 North and South divisions as well as a full slate of surrounding entertainment options for fans in attendance.”
The move brings one more of the Pac-12’s championship events to Las Vegas. The conference already holds their men’s and women’s basketball tournaments in Nevada.
