SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Fans, mostly inspired young women, filled the Salt Lake airport to welcome Kelley O’Hara back from her World Cup victory with the U.S. Women’s National team Tuesday evening.
O’Hara and her teammate Christen Press have been with the U.S. Women’s National Team at the FIFA Women’s World Cup where they capitalized on the opportunity and connected for a goal during the semifinals before going on to claim the title of world champions.
Upon the teams return to the United States, a ticker-tape parade was held for the USWNT. During the parade, O’Hara shared a moment with a fan that later went viral.
A great moment from today's parade — after @kelleymohara tweeted out she'd give bonus points to any fan that brought her a beverage, someone comes through. It's a sign of genuineness from her that I thought is worth sharing. This was toward the end of the Canyon of Heroes. pic.twitter.com/gXbCNivUIe
