DALLAS, Texas – Former University of Utah point guard Delon Wright has agreed to a sign-and-trade with the Dallas Mavericks and will sign a three-year contract.
Wright was a restricted free agent but Dallas agreed to send two future second round picks to the Memphis Grizzlies.
The deal is worth $29 million according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The former Ute had a brief stint in Memphis after being traded from the Toronto Raptors last season at the trade deadline along with Jonas Valanciunas in exchange for Marc Gasol. Wright wasn’t going to be the starting point guard for the Grizzlies after they drafted Ja Morant in the 2019 NBA Draft with the No. 2 overall pick.
In Dallas, Wright will have the chance to start for the Mavericks and play alongside NBA Rookie of the Year Luka Doncic.
He was drafted as the 20th overall pick in the 2015 draft by the Raptors, after three and a half seasons in Toronto, Wright averaged 6.7 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
When he was dealt to Memphis, Wright improved significantly, posting 12.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game in 26 contests.
Wright had three triple-doubles in the last four games of the regular season.
