SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Two of the three teams that are scheduled to participate in the Salt Lake City Summer League have released their rosters for the event.
The biggest name on either list for the Cleveland Cavaliers and the San Antonio Spurs may not be a player however, but a coach. Newly hired Cavs coach John Beilein intends to coach Cleveland’s squad in the summer, something that is usual for an NBA head coach. Typically, summer league head coaching duties fall to one of the team’s assistant coaches.
The Cavs will also bring 2019 lottery pick Darius Garland to Salt Lake City and a familiar face for Utah fans, former Jazzman and Salt Lake City Stars guard Naz Mitrou-Long. The Cavs’ other first round pick, Kevin Porter Jr., is also on the summer league roster.

San Antonio is set to field a summer league team that includes 2018 first rounder Lonnie Walker IV, and 2019 first rounders Luka Samanic and Keldon Johnson. The Spurs will coached by Blake Ahearn, the head coach of their G League affiliate, the Austin Spurs.

The Memphis Grizzlies had yet to release their summer league roster at the time of this article’s publication. However, one thing that is for certain is that second overall pick Ja Morant will not be coming to Salt Lake City.
The former Murray State guard has ruled himself out for the summer as he recovers from a recent minor knee surgery.
The Salt Lake City Summer League will take place July 1-3 at Vivint Smart Home Arena.
