Three Aggies, One Wildcat Make Athlon’s Preseason All-American Teams
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Athlon Sports revealed their preseason All-American teams and a few Utah State Aggies and a Weber State player made the list.
The Aggies’ three selections across the four teams was the most of any Group of 5 school.
All-purpose star Savon Scarver was named to the second team, linebacker David Woodyard made the third team and kicker Dominik Eberle was a fourth team selection.
All three players were major contributors on Utah State’s 11-2 squad last year that rewrote the school’s record books, was one of the top offensive programs in the nation, and ended up being ranked in the top 25 at the end of the season.
Utah State will open its 2019 on Aug. 20 against Wake Forest.
In Athlon’s preseason FCS All-American team, Weber State kick returner Rashid Shaheed was named to the squad as a return specialist.
Shaheed has been named a season-long All-American selection twice as well as a two-time first team All-Big Sky honoree in two years of action at Weber State.
With Shaheed on the roster, the Wildcats have won back-to-back Big Sky Conferences with at least 10 wins in both seasons.
The Wildcats’ season will begin on Aug. 31 at San Diego State.
