Utah State Duo Named Preseason All-Americans By Phil Steele’s Magazine

LOGAN, Utah – The preseason predictions and awards continue to roll in with less than three months until the start of the 2019 college football season. Utah State wide receiver and return specialist Savon Scarver and linebacker David Woodward were named preseason All-Americans by Phil Steele’s magazine.
Steele also named 12 Utah State players to four preseason Mountain West conference teams which includes defensive end Tipa Galeai, cornerback D.J. Williams, punt returner Jordan Nathan join Scarver and Woodward on the first team.
Running back Gerold Bright, kicker Doninik Eberle, defensive tackle Christopher ‘Unga were named to the second team.
Defensive tackle Fua Leilua, long snapper Brandon Pada and offensive lineman Alfred Edwards were named to the fourth team.

Scarver is the third returner in school history to be named a consensus All-American. Last season, he returned 22 kickoffs for 742 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Woodward was a first team All-American by Pro Football Focus and third team from the Associated Press last season as a sophomore with 134 tackles, 5 sacks, 12.5 tackles for loss, 2 forced fumbles, 2 interceptions and 3 pass breakups last season.
