PROVO, Utah – BYU basketball fans are excited about the 2019-20 season. In large part because of all the changes taking place with new head coach Mark Pope.
Changes on the staff and roster are the not the only things are different with Cougar hoops this upcoming season. The Marriott Center floor is also getting some slight changes as well.
The BYU Ticket Office department posted a picture from their Twitter account earlier today of the changes taking place on the Marriott Center floor. For the untrained eye, you might say, what’s different?

Couple of changes you can see in the photo. One, the new West Coast Conference logo is now in the paint. Since BYU joined the WCC in 2011, the conference logos have been inside the arc on opposite ends of the floor. During the Mountain West Conference days (1999-2011), the MWC logo was also in the paint area.

The second change to the floor is the new three-point line. It was announced last week that the NCAA is moving back the men’s college basketball three-point line from 20 feet, 9 inches to the international basketball distance of 22 feet, 1 3/4 inches. So we will see two separate three-point lines on college basketball courts this season. One for the men’s teams and one for the women’s squads, if they share the same area. BYU’s basketball teams both play their games on the Marriott Center floor.
