Taysom Hill Throws Touchdown Pass During Saints Mandatory Minicamp
METAIRIE, La. – Former BYU quarterback Taysom Hill is preparing for his third season in the NFL and with the New Orleans Saints.
Hill has found a role in the Saints franchise as head coach Sean Payton incorporated the “Taysom Hill Package” on multiple occasions with the New Orleans offense last year.
Despite the success at slot receiver, running back, special teams, and any of the other positions Sean Payton has had Taysom play for the Saints, Hill has expressed in the past that his goal in the NFL is to be a starting quarterback.
The three-year veteran has been viewed as a potential future starting quarterback for the Saints since New Orleans picked him up off of waivers in 2017. But that day is still a ways away because Saints legend Drew Brees is still in the building.
On Tuesday, Hill had the opportunity to see a large number of reps at quarterback during day one of Saints Mandatory Minicamp. Brees was out from minicamp due to a court appearance where he and his wife are suing are a jeweler for fraudulent diamonds. Thus, opening the door for Hill to see more snaps.
According to FOX 8 New Orleans Sports Anchor Sean Fazende, Hill had a touchdown pass in minicamp to wide receiver Rishard Matthews. Matthews is a veteran receiver the Saints are trying out in minicamp and Hill connected with him for a score.
No video was allowed at Saints practice according to members of the media in attendance at Ochsner Sports Performance Center, home of the Saints practice facility.
Along with the touchdown pass, Fazende also added that the former BYU star has had a “nice day throwing the ball.”
Saints minicamp continues tomorrow and concludes on Thursday, June 13th.
