Former BYU Soccer Star Ashley Hatch Scores Early Goal Against Utah Royals

BOYDS, Md. – The Utah Royals are back east to face the Washington Spirit and former BYU star Ashley Hatch scored the first goal of the match to give the Spirit an early 1-0 lead.
The goal came in the 23rd minute as she got around two Royals defenders and fired a shot at the top of the 18-yard box with her right foot that went far post and into the back of the net.
Hatch notched her third goal of the season in as many games.

She is in her third season. During the 2018 season, she scored 4 goals. In her rookie season with North Carolina, she scored 7 goals, earning the NWSL Rookie of the Year.
Hatch was with BYU from 2013-16 and scored 47 goals in 75 games played. During her freshman season, she was awarded the WCC Freshman of the Year award. After her senior season, she was a semifinalist for the Hermann Trophy and was ranked the seventh best player in the country by Top Drawer Soccer.
