MONTREAL – The Montreal Impact doubled its lead on Real Salt Lake with a penalty kick goal by Saphir Taider in the 68th minute to take a 2-0 lead.
The opportunity was granted to Montreal after RSL’s Donny Toia was called for a foul after tripping up the Impact’s Bacary Sagna in the box after Sagna beat Joao Plata to a loose ball.
For Taider, Montreal’s leading goal-scorer, it was his fifth strike of the season as he got the better of RSL goalkeeper Nick Rimando.

Montreal’s first goal came at the end of the first half on a nice shot by Omar Browne. RSL’s Sam Johnson had a nice look at an equalizing goal but he was called offsides on the play.
RSL came into the game on a three game winning streak. The club has never before beaten Montreal on the road.
