Big3 Basketball Coming To Salt Lake City In July

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Big3 has finalized their schedule for their third season and will be coming to Salt Lake City on July 27 at Vivint Smart Home Arena.
The Big3 was founded by rapping icon Ice Cube and features longtime NBA players who have moved on from the association but still wants to play basketball in a three-on-three setting.
The league has expanded to 12 teams, adding four new teams.

The six teams to play in Utah will be 3’s Company against the Killer 3’s, the Ball Hogs taking on the Triplets and Bivouac will face the Aliens. Five players will return to Utah, who had stints with the Jazz and another with ties to the state from college.
On the 3’s Company roster is captain DerMarr Johnson who had stints with the Atlanta Hawks and San Antonio Spurs, co-captain and 13 year NBA veteran Baron Davis, who was an All-Star with the New Orleans Hornets and the Golden State Warriors. 14-year NBA veteran Drew Gooden, Dijon Thompson, former Memphis Grizzlies and New Jersey Nets guard Andre Emmett and 10-year NBA veteran Jason Maxiell, who spent most of his career with the Detroit Pistons. They are coached by five-time NBA champion Michael Cooper.
Killer 3’s is led by captain Stephen Jackson, who spent 14 seasons in the NBA with the Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets, Indiana Pacers, Milwaukee Bucks, San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Clippers. Their co-captain is Josh Powell, who won two NBA titles in his nine seasons in the league and Franklin Session, who spent most of his career in the NBA G-League or overseas. He played one season with Weber State, starting alongside Damian Lillard in the backcourt. They also have Donte Greene, C.J. Watson and 11-year veteran Eddy Curry. They are coached by 19-year NBA veteran Charles Oakley.
On the Ball Hogs roster is captain Brian Scalabrine, who played 11 seasons in the NBA and winning a title with the Boston Celtics. Co-captains include 8-year veteran Josh Childress and former Jazzman, 13-year NBA veteran and 2011 champion DeShawn Stevenson. Dusan Bulut, Will McDonald and Jermaine Taylor round out the roster and are coached by Hall of Famer Rick Barry.
The Triplets have some Utah Jazz ties on their roster with captain Joe Johnson, who spent a season and a half with the Jazz from 2016-18 during his 17-year NBA career that included 7 All-Star selections. Former Jazz big man Al Jefferson is the co-captain after 14 seasons in the NBA, including three years with the Jazz. Jannero Pargo – an 11-year NBA veteran – is also on the team with Chris Johnson, Sergerio Gipson and Alan Anderson and are coached by Hall of Famer Lisa Leslie.
On Bivouac’s roster is captain Josh Smith, who spent 13 seasons in the NBA, co-captain Anthony Morrow and Will Bynum. Shawne Williams, C.J. Leslie and Dion Glover round out the roster with Reggie Theus as the coach.
The Aliens roster includes captain and former Jazzman Andre Owens, who played 23 games for Utah during the 2005-06 season before being traded to Golden State in the Derek Fisher trade. Former Los Angeles Lakers guard Shannon Brown is the co-captain and former No. 1 overall pick from the 2007 NBA Draft, Greg Oden. Former Jazzman Brandon Rush, who played for the Jazz during the 2013-14 campaign and Robert Vaden, who played for the Charlotte Bobcats and Oklahoma City Thunder in 2009. They are coached by NBA Hall of Famer Nate Archibald.
The season will begin on June 22 in Detroit, Michigan and are broadcast on CBS and CBS Sports Network.
