Known as Weber Normal College in 1919, the Wildcats played their first game on Oct. 8 of that year, losing 20-0 to Box Elder High School. Later that month, on Oct. 31, they got their first win over Davis High.
Since then a lot has changed for the Ogden-based football program. In 1963, Weber State joined the Big Sky Conference as a charter member along with Idaho, Idaho State, Montana and Montana State. The Wildcats have clinched six conference titles, including back-to-back championships in 2017 and 2018.
Individuallly, Weber State has sent 38 players to the NFL Draft and has honored 62 All-Americans. Notable season long award winners include quarterback Jamie Martin’s 1991 Walter Payton Award and running back Josh Davis’ 2018 Jerry Rice Award.
