NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. – Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell is set for a busy summer and he’s starting it out back in his home state of New York.
A native of Elmsford, New York a suburb of the Big Apple, Mitchell was in the city this week to meet with top NBA executives and maybe sneak in a bit of recruiting to a big-name free agent.
On Monday, Mitchell posed for an Instagram photo with NBA commissioner Adam Silver, presumably in the league’s Manhattan offices. Mitchell’s mother Nicole, and his agent Ty Sullivan were also present.
The next day, Mitchell fueled plenty of free agency speculation with a post on his Instagram Story. In the Story, Mitchell posed one of his bobbleheads next to one of Brooklyn Nets guard D’Angelo Russell.

This summer, Russell will become a free agent. The Jazz are expected to be aggressive during the free agency period and will likely need to replace Ricky Rubio as the starting point guard. Time will tell whether the Jazz end up making a move on Russell.
The NBA free agency period is expected to begin on June 30.
